Harness nuclear energy for growth: Vice Chancellor
Shimoga, Nov 10: Nuclear power is the only best and cheap source of power if it is used with care to overcome energy crisis besides serving as a powerful tool for national growth, Vice Chancellor of Lucknow-based Babasaheb Ambedkar University Prof. B Hanumaiah said today (Nov 10).
Inaugurating a two-day national seminar on nuclear energy and environment, organised by the university here, he said there is no cause for alarm about our nuclear plants as large numbers of well trained and dedicated group of scientists are working hard to take care of all aspects of safety of power generation units.
A S Sadashivaiah, Director of Karnataka State Pollution Control Board, urged the university to experiment with production of different alternative sources of energy as due to rampant use use of polluting sources of energy, mankind is faced with global warming. Nuclear experts from various parts of the country are taking part in the two-day seminar.
