U'kand Polls: Sonia to launch rail proj and address rally

New Delhi, Nov 9: Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday (today) will lay the foundation stone of the much-delayed Rishikesh-Karanprayag rail project in Uttarakhand.

The opposition party BJP has raised the question why Prime Minister Manmohan Singh is not inaugurating the project. BJP has threatened Congress to boycott the launch. On Nov 9, a meeting is scheduled at the hilly district of Chamoli, which will be presided by Sonia Gandhi. The meeting is expected to be a virtual launch of the party's campaign for the upcoming election in Uttarkhand.

The project is expected to be completed in 5 years and it would connect the Garhwal region with the rest of the country. The project will reduce the travelling time.
