DA case: Court resumes Jayalalithaa's hearing today

New Delhi, Nov 8: A Special Bangalore court on Tuesday (today) will resume the hearing on Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's disproportionate assets case.

Reports suggest that Jaya may move an application before the court seeking deferment to the date of hearing.

The Court had adjourned the hearing to Nov 8 from Oct 21. Jayalalithaa had given her statement for all the questions framed in the case during the two-day hearing, though the case remained inconclusive.

The apex court has asked the trial court to complete its deposition and asked the court to adjourn the hearing to some other day other than Nov 8.

Jaya has been accused of amassing wealth worth over Rs 66 crore when she was the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu between 1991 and 1996. She pleaded the court to shift the proceedings to some other place out of Tamil Nadu feeling that that she may not get a fair hearing in the state due to her opposition party DMK and its chief Karunanidhi. She also accused DMK for imposing a false case on her.
