Rape in orphanage: 13-yr-old boy to undergo Paternity test

Mumbai, Nov 7: A 13-year-old boy, who is the prime suspect in raping a same aged girl, will go for paternity test soon. The gruesome crime in Vidyabati Ashram in Kamshet, a place 110 km from Mumbai shocked many and faced stern criticism over the orphanage authorities' inaction.

According to sources, the paternity test of the teenage boy would actually prove - whether the victim was raped by the 13-year-old boy or it was a sexual abuse case by an adult.

Meanwhile, the authorities assured that all children in the orphanage would go for a medical check up to examine if they were abused too.

"I have instructed all my officers that medical test be conducted on all children to affirm if they too were abused," said Minister in Women And Child Welfare Department, Varsha Gaikwad.

The rape case was unearthed when the victim became 5-months pregnant. Until then, no one in the organisation had noticed the pathetic situation of the 13-year-old girl.
