J&K: Home ministry sanctions funds for tourists department

New Delhi, Nov 6: The Home ministry has sanctioned over Rs 40 crore for the development of tourist spots in Jammu and Kashmir before next summer.

A lake circuit in Leh and a resort area will be developed in Gulmarg to attract tourists. kargil will be encouraged as as tourist destination.

The ministry has sanctioned money for the recent projects, which comes under reconstruction plans of J& K and Rs 271 crore has been sanctioned for the development purpose.

J&K lakes and waterways has executed 61% of the sewage treatment and restoration work at Dal Lake. This year, nearly 11 lakh tourists have visited the state.

The government feels that if the tourists places are developed, then the tourists number will increase. The ministry has approved Rs. 4.15 crore for the preservation and beautification of historical monuments.
