Musharraf has close encounter with shoe once again

Pervez Musharraf
Islamabad, Nov 5: Former Pakistan President Pervez Musharraf had a close tryst with the shoe once again when a man tried to hurl a shoe at him during an event in London on Saturday. This is his second such attempt that Musharraf had to experience.

The incident occurred when the ex-President was attending a function addressing the Kashmiri community in Luton. The shoe however did not hit him and the security personnel caught hold of him and took him out of the venue. Besides this person, another person shouted slogans against Musharraf.

The earlier attempt that occurred at Feb 2010, saw a person hurling the shoe at the former President while he was addressing a gathering in Britain. He had escaped being hit then as well. Shoe-throwing has become a latest weapon to register a person's protest and the method was first employed by Iraqi journalist Muntazar al Zaidi when he threw his shoes at US president George Bush in 2008. The same was followed by many to vent their anger at politicians and other leaders.
