UP: Mayawati not pleased with Rahul's unannouced visits?

Lucknow, Nov 4: With Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi not in the best of terms and routinely throwing allegations at each other on issues of governance and corruption, the matter has taken an ugly turn.

After causing considerable damage to Mayawati's reputation on the Bhatta Parsaul episode, it seem to be payback time for her. The CM has raised concern over the unannounced visits Rahul is making to the state and expressed concern regarding critical security issues.

Rahul Gandhi had earlier taken the state govt by surprise when he arrived on Tuesday in a chartered aircraft at Babatpur airport in Varanasi. He was visiting villages around Varanasi like Bhadohi, Mirzapur and Jaunpur. An official spokesman has been quoted as saying, "After all, it is the responsibility of the state government to make necessary security arrangements for anyone who is entitled to SPG cover."

He added, "This is the umpteenth time that the state government has sent such a letter, but the union home ministry does not even care to send a reply."
