Singapore keen to name orchid after Manmohan Singh

New Delhi, Nov 3: In a bid to honour Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Singapore is keen to name an orchid after Singh during his scheduled visit to the country on November 19 and 20.

The Prime Minister will be Singapore for a bilateral visit where he will attend the East Asia Summits and India-ASEAN on November 18 and 19.

It is yet to be decided if Singapore's proposal will be accepted by India.

Prime Minister has been a popular figure in the East and South-East Asia.

Kurt Campbell, US assistant secretary of state for East Asian and Pacific affairs and South Korean President Lee Myung-Bak at Seoul, during a meeting described the Prime Minister as an "inspiring Asian leader".
