"Only Marathis have the first right over Mumbai," said Bal Thackeray.
He further said that if North Indians stopped working in the state, the state would not come to a halt as there would be others to work instead of them.
Thackeray also criticised the present Congress-NCP government in Maharashtra.
The remarks came from the Shiv Sena Supremo at the backdrop of the celebrations of Chhath, a famous festival in Bihar and Uttar Pradesh in the state.
