Two persons arrested for planting bomb on Advani yatra route

Madurai, Nov 2: Senior BJP leader LK Advani's Jan Chethana Yatra confronted a security scare when a pipe boms was seized on his yatra route in Tamil Nadu. Police investigating the matter have arrested two persons in those regard who are believed to have planted the bombs.

In what can be seen as a breakthrough, the case was cracked by the special investigation team of the CB-CID on Tuesday. The two arrested are identified as Abdul Rahman, 26, son of Sikkander Basha, of Nelpettai in Madurai and Ismath, 22, son of Khaja Hussain, of Simmakkal in Madurai.

The official release pertaining to their arrest states that they were arrested for their “involvement in the perpetration of the crime." The police have revealed that Rahman was connected to Muslim hardliner Imam Ali who was killed in a police encounter in Sept 2002.
