TRAI increases 100 SMSs per day cap to 200 SMS

Later the regulator relaxed this limit for festivals provided that no commercially unsolicited messages would be sent out.
On Nov 1, TRAI released an official statement claiming that it recieved requests from some service providers and consumers to increase the 100 SMSs per day limit. After considering these requests TRAI has exceeded the SMS guidelines limit to 200 SMSs per day per SIM for authorised marketers and individuals.
Earlier, on Sep 5, after much delay, Trai had come out with recommendations to stop pesky calls and text messages from Sep 27, ordering that no access provider (operators) shall permit the transmission of more than 100 SMSes per day per SIM.
