New Delhi, Nov 1: Extending the jittery of the aam-admi, petrol price once again might be hiked soon. Following rupee depreciation and hardening of crude oil prices, state-owned oil companies demanded for increasing petrol price by Rs 1.82/litre.

HPCL Director (Finance) B Mukherjee has been quoted as saying, "From today (Tuesday, Nov 1), there are some losses on petrol. To cover them, we may have to increase prices."

Here it can be recalled that recently petrol price was hiked nation-wide by Rs Rs 3.14 per litre.

Currently petrol price in some of the Metro cities are:

  • New Delhi: Rs 63.70 to Rs 66.84
  • Mumbai: Rs 68.62 to Rs 71.76

  • Chennai: Rs 67.50 to Rs 70.00

However, Mr Mukherjee also stated, "We are in discussion with other oil companies on raising prices. Let's say, we are toying with the idea."
