Landmine found, plot to blow up Mamata's TMC rally foiled

Kolkata, Nov 1: Police security officials found landmine near a place where West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee was expected to hold a rally on Tuesday, Nov 1.

Police suspected the Maoists for planning the killing plot to blow up Mamata along with top Trinamool Congress leaders in the state. However, according to sources, TMC MP, Subhendu Adhikari was scheduled to address the rally in Midnapore district in the state.

Earlier it was reported that with increasing threat perception from Maoists following Mamata's tough stand against them, the administration decided to step up security at the state secretariat, her residence and convoy.

Three metal detectors would be installed at the entrance to the Chief Minister's Office to keep a tab on the high security zone. One metal detector would be installed between the CMO and Press Corner and the remaining two near the state Home Secretary's office.

Despite such decisions over Mamamta's security, the latest finding of landmine near the left several grave question mark about the Chief Minister's security.

Here it also can be recalled that recently the ultras refused follow Mamata's ultimatum accusing the Trinamool chief of not considering their demands seriously.
