Mirchpur Killing case: Court to declare verdict on Oct 31

Haryana
New Delhi, Oct 30: A local court will deliver its verdict on Monday, Oct 31, against the 15 convicts who were found guilty for burning alive a 70-year-old Dalit man and his physically-challenged daughter in April last year at Mirchpur village in Haryana's Hissar district.

A clash broke out between Jat and Dalit community after which the Jat community attacked on Dalit people.

Judge will announce its verdict after hearing the arguments of both sides. Judge Kamini Lau was quoted as saying,"Case be listed for orders on sentence on October 31."

Local court required a report from the Hissar's probation officer for the seven convicts who were found first-time offenders. These seven convicts would be considered under Probation of Offenders Act as they were not booked under provisions of the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
