Saudi Arabia names Prince Nayef as new crown prince

Saudi Arabia, Oct 28: Nayef bin Abdel-Aziz Al Saud has been named as new crown prince of Saudi Arabia, said a report on Saudi state TV.

Nayef bin Abdel-Aziz Al Saud, interior minister of Saudi was named as to the heir of Saudi throne following the death of Saudi Arabia's crown prince Sultan, who died of colon cancer in New York.

Prince Nayef, who is known for acting tough on militants is also famous for showing favours to conservative traditions like banning women from voting.

Nayef is expected to take the throne after the death of 87-year-old, King Abdullah, who is recuperating from his third operation.

78-year-old Prince Nayaf was also named as the Prime Minister of the country in addition to being the interior minister.
