FIR filed, ex-PM Deve Gowda caught in CID's radar
Deve Gowda has been booked over the irregularities while allocating work contracts on piecemeal basis in Krishna Upper Bank Project which had haunted Deve Gowda decades back.
The then Chief Minister of Karnataka, Deve Gowda allegedly had cleared hundreds of files overnight relating to the above mentioned project, before his tenure as the Prime Minister of India.
According to sources, the former PM had sanctioned Rs 400 crore to private contractors for executing the piece works over the above mentioned project.
The FIR lodged by the CID did not name any individual, though it has mentioned that officials, contractors, non-official persons, staff members, and others, who functioned in the state between 1995 and 1998 were involved in the scam.
