Cash-for-votes: Relief for Amar Singh; granted bail

New Delhi, Oct 24: Cash-for-votes accused Amar Singh has been granted bail by the Delhi High Court.

The condition put by the High Court for the bail is that, Amar Singh will not be permitted to leave the country and against surety of Rs 50 lakh, personal bond of Rs 50 lakh.

Amar Singh was granted bail on humanitarian grounds, said reports. The Delhi police had earlier accepted the medical reports submitted by AIIMS, where Singh is undergoing treatment currently.

Amar Singh's lawyer in his argument in the court said that the medical condition of Singh required constant monitoring and that he be allowed to visit his doctor in Singapore where he had undergone renal transplant.

The MP has been suffering from increase serum creatinine, UTI, increased TSH and vitamin B12 deficiency. His medical report submitted by AIIMS revealed that he had developed severe abdominal pain and was prone to infections as he had undergone a renal transplant.

Meanwhile, the Additional Solicitor General said that the probe into the case was complete and a chargesheet has been filed.

Amar Singh was arrested for his alleged involvement in the cash-for-votes scam for allegedly bribing MPs to buy their votes.
