WB: Maoist detained outside Mamata Banerjee's house

Kolkata, Oct 21: A Maoists rebel, identified as Prakash Acharya has been detained outside West Bengal Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee's house in Kolkata on Oct 21.

According to sources, the arrested Maoist wanted to surrender before the CM. Acharya visited Mamata's residence in South Kolkata where he has been taken under custody by Special Task force (STF) of Kolkata police.

Explaining their decision to arrest Acharya, who reportedly came to surrender himself, STF personnel said, "There are some inconsistencies in his statement and we are verifying them."

"One person came to surrender. We are interrogating him. we have just started interrogating him and any details about his activities are yet to be ascertained," stated the SRF official.
