Quake measuring 5.3 shakes Gujarat; tremors felt in Mumbai

The tremors were felt at around 10:48 PM and lasted for close to 25 seconds in Junagadh. Mild tremors were felt in Mumbai as well.
With no reports of damages, the tremors were felt in other parts of the state including Ahmedabad. Considerable panic was caused among residents with many rushing out of their homes in the wee hours.
Rajeev Nair, the Director of Met Department at Mumbai was quoted as saying, "The epicentre of the earthquake which registered 5.3 on Richter scale was at Junagadh in Gujarat...tremors were felt here." The US Geological Survey also reported that the epicenter of the quake was 38 km south of Junagadh and 126 km South-Southwest of Rajkot. The Geological Survey added that the depth of the quake was 15.5 km.
Parts of the state suffered a power outage due to the quake.
