Ramdev calls for booking Bhushan for "divisive" remarks

Lucknow, Oct 18: With the Congress party having to face a shameful defeat in the recently concluded bypolls, spiritual guru Baba Ramdev is determined to add insult to injury. Ramdev commented that he hailed Congress' loss in the Hisar Lok Sabha bypolls. He also added that the defeat should be considered an eye-opener for the party.

In a veiled warning of sorts, Ramdev added that if the Congress did not act enough against corruption, they will have to face a similar setback in the upcoming Uttar Pradesh elections as well.

Baba Ramdev also launched a tirade against lawyer and activist Prashanth Bhushan for his controversial remarks on Kashmir. He called Bhushan's comments "dangerous and shameful" and commented that he should be booked for making the "divisive" remarks.

Seeking an explanation from Anna Hazare, Ramdev stated, "I request Anna Hazare to clearly state before the country his stand on the seditious, almost traitorous remarks by a member of his team. Such remarks weaken the credibility of people's movements, which can be very dangerous."

Acknowledging citizens fundamental rights to free speech, Ramdev said that social activists carried huge responsibility on their shoulders and that their integrity was always under the public eye. He said, "Members of people's movements, apart from talking about their constitutional rights, must be patriotic, their moral stand and loyalty towards the country must also be clear. This is not a question of legal rights, this is about one's personal integrity."
