Jayalalithaa: AIADMK to win the local body polls

Chennai, Oct 17: Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa showed confidence about AIADMK's victory in the two-phase civic polls which she strongly feels people would cast their votes for her party.

The polls are taking place on Oct 17 and 19. Around 4.63 voters are expected to cast their votes for the local body polls. The voters will elect around 112,000 representatives from around 411,000 candidates. In some of the polling booths, the process will be recorded on camera. Votes counting will be done on Oct 21. At the polling booths, over 80,000 forces are deployed for the security purpose.

Voting is happening smoothly, but in few places, people are complaining about the missing of their names from the voting lists, said reports. Some voting machines are also causing problems. AIADMK, DMK, Congress, PMK, are the parties contesting the local body polls.

"After the people voted us to power with overwhelming majority, we have restored law and order, initiated welfare schemes and fulfilled our promises to the people. We are confident of support," Jayalalithaa told the media.
