Govt doctors on strike;5-day-old baby dies without treatment

Wardha, Oct 16: A 5-day-old baby died without any treatment as doctors in government hospitals have been observing strike demanding salary hike, promotion.

The parents of the deceased said that they were asked to visit a private hospital as doctors denied to start treatment on the infant. The tragic incident took place at Wardha in Maharashtra.

The father of the baby chided, "They told us to go to a private hospital because the doctors were on strike and that he wouldn't get treated here...We got the money from the bank and took him to hospital. But the doctor said he was dead."

However, the doctors, who were holding strike, argued to wash off their hands from the incident while claiming, "The baby was declared dead on arrival... we are not responsible...The government is responsible."
