K'taka Lokayukta issues arrest warrant against Yeddyurappa

Bangalore, Oct 15: In a major setback to corruption hit former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, a special Lokayukta court on Saturday, Oct 15 issued an arrest warrant against him. Meanwhile, Yeddyurappa's son and son-in-laws were granted bail.

The Lokayukta Deputy SP will execute the arrest warrant against Yeddyurappa.

The court ordered the arrest of Yeddyurappa in denotification of government land, which was exposed by HD Kumaraswamy, JD(S) chief, and advocate Sirajin Basha, who is the main complainant. Previously, even Karnataka High Court had rejected bail for the former CM.

However, Yeddyurappa's son and son-in-laws including BJP members, who were co-accused along with the former were grated bail.

Charges against Yeddyurappa:

The former CM is accused of misusing his office for denotifying government land in Rachenahalli in Bangalore South taluk which caused an estimated loss of about Rs 40 crore to the state exchequer.

Thus, Yeddyurappa will join the brigade of alleged tainted netas, who has been sent to jail over various corruption charges.

Katta Subramanya Naidu, another ex-BJP minister of Karnataka was jailed along with his son Katta Jagadish over land scam charges on Aug 8, 2011. However, duo haven't granted bail, yet rather languishing in jail for over two months.

Lokayukta police is expected to arrest Yeddyurappa in next few hours.
