Rs 685 cr park: Mayawati showers flowers @ her own statue !

Noida, Oct 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister, Maywati on Friday, Oct 14 saw her dream turning into a reality when she inaugurated the Noida Park for which a whopping Rs 685 crore has been spent.

People witnessed an "amusing situation" when the CM showered flowers on her own statue which has been constructed beside Dr Ambedkar and Kanshi Ram's statues.

Rashtriya Dalit Prerna Smarak Evam Green Garden is meant to honour Dalit icons and has over two dozen huge statues of Mayawati.

The memorial has been built on a land that earlier housed a public park. When the work began in 2008, residents were upset as they were denied access to the park. Then over 6,000 trees were cut.

The grand opening of the memorial is being seen as Mayawati"s official start to her party"s poll campaigning in view of the state's Assembly Elections due in 2012.
