Bajrang Dal, Sri Ram Sene to be banned after Bhushan attack?
Gowda further said that he had staged a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi Samadhi at Rajghat, New Delhi on Sept 23, 2008 after there were a series of attacks on Christians and churches in Karnataka after the BJP government came to power.
"At that time, I had written a detailed letter to your good self requesting for a ban on outfits such as Bajrang Dal and Sri Ram Sene," Gowda told a press conference, where he released the letter that he wrote to Singh.
"I wish to reiterate that such groups pose a serious threat to India's secular fabric, unity and integrity and democratic system and hence should be outlawed at the earliest," he said.
He further said that the images of Bhushan being beaten up was a big shock to the entire nation and condemned the act calling it cowardice.
Prashant Bhushan, supreme court lawyer and member of Team Anna was attacked by three assailants in his office after he passed comments on Jammu and Kashmir on Oct 12.
While one of the attackers was from Sri Ram Sene, the other two belonged to the Bhagat Singh Sena.
Meanwhile, more supporters of Anna Hazare were attacked by the group on Oct 13.
