Reason behind attack on Prashant Bhushan, watch video

New Delhi, Oct 12: Eminent Supreme Court lawyer, Prashant Bhushan has been brutally beaten up in his own chamber in the national capital. Bhushan has been attacked for his controversial statement on Kashmir.

Initially the countrymen were confused about the assailants and the reason behind the attack. However, clarifying all confusions, a group called Bhagat Singh Kranti Sena claimed the responsibility of the attack and tried to justify their act. [Read: Sri Ram Sena behind Bhushan attack?]

Updating their status in Facebook, the group said, "we hit prashant bhushan hard in his chamber in supreme court.if u will try to break my nation,i will break ur heads."

Soon after the attack, Mr Bhushan stated, "They (attackers) asked (before attack) if I had said,in Varanasi, that referendum can be allowed in Kashmir. I said yes, it can be." Referendum is a popular vote by the electorate whether to approve a specific legislative act.

However, it has also been reported that Mr Bhushan was attacked as he, in an interview, had said that Kashmiri people should be given 'azadi' if they don't want to live with India and also reportedly recommended the withdrawal of Indian army from Kashmir.

Mr Bhushan was attacked by three persons who barged into his chamber in the Supreme Court. They brutally beat and dragged Mr Bhushan who fell on the floor. [Watch: Prashant Bhushan attacked]

Mr Bhushan filed an FIR against the attackers. Police arrested one person while the other two attackers managed to escape the place. The arrested attacker, however, claimed that people in Mr Bhushan's chambers had attacked them (attackers) first.
