2G: Govt not to leave Kanimozhi; to oppose bail plea in SC

The apex court criticised the media reports stating that the government would not oppose Kanimozhi's bail plea. However, citing the confusion, government spokesperson in the court clarified its decision.
The Supreme Court judge asked, "Is it in favour of the bail or oppose the bail?" judges asked. To this Additional Solicitor Gener?"
However, the Additional Solicitor General replied to the question by stating, "My instructions are to oppose the bail."
Citing the government's decision, it seems that it has no intention to let the arrested DMK MP go from Tihar jail so soon.
Meanwhile, the apex court also bashed the law minister, Salman Khurshid over media reports which quoted Khurshid as saying that putting businessmen behind bars will hamper investment.
Criticising Khurshid's statement, the court claimed, "If the news report is true, it is disturbing for us."
The court's statement on Khurshid's saying came when it was hearing the bail pleas of 2G spectrum scam case accused - Unitech Managing Director Sanjay Chandra and Swan Telecom's Director Vinod Goenka.
