Support for Bhatt: IPS officers divided; Is it Modi effect?

Ahmedabad, Oct 10: Despite the news that Gujarat IPS officers passed a resolution supporting arrested Sanjeev Bhatt, sources claimed that the issue created differences among the officers.

A team of IPS association on Saturday, Oct 8 visited Bhatt's residence and assured his (Bhatt's) family members that they would support the arrested man in his battle "to prove the truth".

Bhatt's wife Shweta said, "Three IPS officers came to our house and told us that the association will totally back Bhatt in his fight for truth."

Stating about the main agenda of the passed resolution, sources from the IPS association informed, "The association has passed a resolution for filling up the post of DGP instead of having in-charge DGP."

Meanwhile, sources, on the condition of anonymity, informed, "Some IPS officers were suspicious that there was a hidden agenda for the meeting, and that it was discussion on Bhatt"s arrest."

Citing the latest development in the matter, many started asking - is it Narendra Modi effect? Here it can be recalled that Bhatt was arrested for allegedly forcing his fellow-cop to file a fake affidavit against CM Modi, where he stated that police were asked to go easy on rioting Hindus in Gujarat in 2002.
