7-yr-old boy sacrificed for devi Durga, BSF jawans arrested

Meghalaya
Shilong, Oct 9: Two BSF jawans have been arrested in Meghalaya. The gruesome charges against the duo shocked and terrified many. The two accused have been held over allegedly killing a 7-year-old boy.

It is being suspected that the murder could be a case of "sacrifice children" to appease Devi Durga on Navami (the ninth day of the festival) on Oct 5. The deceased Krishna Singh visited the BSF camp to pray before the goddess on the day.

Krishna's body was found under a bush behind BSF's Praharinagar camp for the 121 battalion. Multiple stabs wounds were found on his body.

The two arrested jawans were from BSF's 121 battalion in Meghalaya's West Garo Hills. Senior BSF official has been quoted as informing, "We handed over head constable Chandra Bhan Das and constable Babu Khan to Meghalaya police. They are suspected to be involved in the case."

A tantrik's role has also come under the scanner. Officials stated, "We have sought the help of SP of Assam's Dhubri district to bring the tantrik to Tura for interrogation."
