Who is Steve Jobs?

Late Steve Jobs
A legendary and renowned techie, Steven Paul Jobs, popularly known as 'Steve Jobs' was born on Feb 24, 1955 (Feb 1955- Oct 2011) in San Francisco.

After completing his schooling from California, Steve graduated from Reed College, Portland, Oregon. He later married Laurene Powell on Mar 18, 1991 and is survived by a son and two daughters. Jobs also has a daughter with a woman he dated before his marriage.

The brains behind Apple Inc, he is also the co-founder the company, Steve worked as the chief executive of Pixar Animation Studios before becoming a member of the board of directors of The Walt Disney Company.

The techno-wizard's stint with success began when he along with his friends-Ronald Wayne and Steve Wozniak in 1884 introduced to the world the Macnitosh, which he was certain would change the world.

In 2004, Steve was diagnosed with cancerous tumor in his pancreas following which he underwent a pancreaticoduodenectomy for the same, after which the tumour was thought to have done away with successfully.

Steve's resignation from the Apple Inc came on Aug 24, 2011 as the CEO came after he announced that he could "no longer meet duties and expectations as Apple's CEO," following which he announced Tim Cook to be his successor.

On Oct 5, 2011 Steve left this world leaving behind a great treasure of knowledge. He revolutionised the whole diaspora of technology be it with the iPod, iPhone, iPad, Nanos and Shuffles, Classics and Touches, App Store or the iPad, making lives simpler, easier for a commoner.

"The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely," said Microsoft giant, Bill Gates expressing his grief over the death of the visionary.

"Steve, thank you for being a mentor and a friend. Thanks for showing that what you build can change the world. I will miss you," said Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg.

"No words can adequately express our sadness at Steve's death or our gratitude for the opportunity to work with him. We will honor his memory by dedicating ourselves to continuing the work he loved so much," said Tim Cook, CEO of Apple.

"The world has lost a visionary. And there may be no greater tribute to Steve's success than the fact that much of the world learned of his passing on a device he invented. Michelle and I send our thoughts and prayers to Steve's wife Laurene, his family, and all those who loved him," said President Barack Obama on his death.

Steve Jobs death, an irreplaceable loss has left many mourning, especially the world of technology, which may never get over it.
