Mumbai: Medium sugar edges up on improved buying

Mumbai, Oct 4: Medium sugar prices edged higher at the Vashi Wholesale market in Mumbai on better offtake from retail consumers.

On the other hand, small sugar variety moved down slightly owing to poor buying support.

Medium Sugar (M-30) gained by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs Rs 2,848/2,986 from last Satuday''s closing level of Rs 2,848/2,981.

Small sugar (S-30), however softened to Rs 2,768/2,840 per quintal as against Rs 2,768/2,841 last weekend.

The following are today''s closing rates for sugar (per quintal), with the previous rates given in brackets:

Medium sugar (M-30) quality: Rs 2,848/2,986 (Rs 2,848/ 2,981).

Small sugar (S-30) quality: Rs 2,768/2,840 (Rs 2,768/ 2,841).
