JK custodial death: 'Silent' Omar to file defamation case

Omar Abdullah
Srinagar, Oct 3: Jammu Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Monday, Oct 3 finally broke his silence on the controversial custodial death issue which has been causing ruckus in the assembly.

Omar, during a press conference, informed that he will file a defamation case against the people who hurled "false murder allegations" against him (Omar). Following Omar's statement, it has been cleared that opposition leader, Mehbooba Mufti may face trouble in near future.

"My lawyers will take up the matter on the false allegations being made. The way facts are being misinterpreted is very sad," said Omar.

Earlier the state assembly witnessed a "shameful" incident when a PDP MLA, Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain hurled a table fan at the speaker, Mohammad Akbar Lone when the speaker used abusive language against him (PDP MLA).

Citing the argument in the assembly, Mehbooba Mufti said, "The CM is allegedly involved in a murder. What can you expect from a Speaker? He has always been biased."

Here it can be recalled that 61-year-old Haji Yousuf was handed over to the Crime Branch by Omar Abdullah over alleged corruption and blackmailing charges. Yousuf was accused of taking bribes from two National Conference leaders with a promise to make them Minister and Member of Legislative Council.
