India to host 7th anti-corruption conference of ADB, OECD
President Pratibha Patil will inaugurate it while Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee will deliver the concluding speech at the conference which is aimed at finding a multi-disciplinary solution to the multifaceted problem of corruption.
A host of matters including strengthening of framework for international cooperation in carrying out investigations abroad and ways to check graft in public sectors will be discussed during the two-day conference being organised for the first time in the country.
"This conference will mainly be focusing on jurisdictional cooperation (between member countries). The cooperation between member nations... the enquiry, investigation and prosecution to be done in a coordinated manner," Minister of State for Personnel V Narayanasamy told reporters here.
"We found practical difficulty in getting information from other countries as far as the crime detection is concerned. Some countries are cooperative... (some are not)...
we have to have mechanism like this for exchanging our views," he added.
Central Vigilance Commissioner Pradeep Kumar and CBI Director A P Singh among others will share their views on various aspects to check corruption and strengthen investigations.
