Meeting with Sonia: Chidambaram beats Pranab, wants to resign

Earlier reports emerged that Pranab would meet the Congress president once he comes from New York. But after returning from his foreign tour on Monday, the finance minister did not visit the 10 Janapath road and informed that he "will meet Sonia soon".
Meanwhile, Chidambaram rushed to meet Sonia and offered his resignation claiming, "(I) don't want to embarrass the Congress party and UPA government."
Demand for the home minister's resignation has been increased after a letter by Pranab Mukherjee claimed that Chidambaram could have prevented 2G spectrum scam but he (Chidambaram) allegedly did not do "enough" in 2008 before marking the price of 2G spectrum with the then telecom minister, A Raja.
Raja, who was forced to resign from his post over the same telecom scam and is currently being lodged in Tihar jail, also asked the special court to summon Chidambaram as the witness in the second generation telecom scam.
