Murder
Amritsar, Sep 25: A Dera Sewadar (religious worker) in Amritsar allegedly killed a 8-year-old girl after beating the minor to death. The baba and his wife absconded from their home.

The deceased reportedly was brought from Maharashtra and was kept captive by the baba and his family. Few days back, the girl had managed to escape and informed that villagers about tortures done to him.

Unfortunately, the minor girl was not taken seriously and was sent back to the "killer" family. Despite a promise from the baba to "take care of the girl," she was found dead in the baba's house.

Villagers, remembering the victim's words, quoted her as stating, "Baba bought me from Nanded in Maharashtra a few months back. He treated me very badly. I worked for him at Dera and if I go back to him he will kill me."

"We tried our best to ensure that she stays fine. The baba said sorry and we thought it would be okay now. We even informed the police but nothing really happened. Whatever happened was not right," stated an elder village person informed.

Police initially lodged a suicide case but following the intervention of the villagers, a case of murder against the baba has been registered.
