Mumbai, Sep 24: The condition of Ghazal maestro Jagjit Singh, who is undergoing treatment at Lilavati hospital for brain hemorrhage is stable yet critical , said hospital authorities.

Singh was admitted to Lilavati hospital where he underwent a neurosurgery following which the singer was put on a life support system and ventilator.

"He is still in the ICU and under observation. His health is stable," Sudhir Dagaonkar, Lilavati Hospital, spokesperson.

Hospital authorities further said his condition was " stable yet critical".

His family and friends however refused to comment on how Singh's health was faring.

"He was brought to the hospital around 9:30am and rushed to operation theatre, given his critical condition. Blood clots were removed in a three-hour long procedure," said s senior doctor in the hospital.

Singh's wife Chitra Singh, a singer herself is in hospital with him. Chitra stopped singing after their son died in a car accident.

A brain hemorrhage occurs when an artery bursts in the brain, causing a localised bleeding in the surrounding tissues.
