Jagjit Singh has been suffering from various heart ailments over the years. He has been taking blood thinners which could have been the reason for the sudden brain haemorrhage. He had to be subject to emergency neurosurgery. A brain haemorrhage occurs when an artery bursts in the brain, causing a localised bleeding in the surrounding tissues.

Jagjit Singh was to perform with other Ghazal maestro Ghulam Ali at Shanmukhananda auditorium in Mumbai. They were set to perform some of their evergreen hits in Hindi, Urdu and Punjabi.

The show titled 'Fever unplugged concert" was organised by Fever Entertainment. A representative of the group said, "Owing to the sudden hospitalization of Jagjit Singh, singer Hariharan is performing in his place."
