Now Anna Hazare on 'Quit Chidambaram' mode
Anna said on Friday that Chidamabaram would be behind bars if the Jan Lokpal Bill would have been in existence now. After earlier chiding the Home Minister by calling him a 'mischievous person', Anna commented, "Had there been a Jan Lokpal now, Chidambaram would have been in jail."
Speaking at his village in Ralegan Siddhi, Anna stated that Chidambaram would have to go home in the 2G scam and added, "Chidambaram is 'khodsal' (a Marathi word which means a mischievous or a dishonest person)."
Chidambaram is facing pressure after there were allegations of his involvement in the 2G scam. It is being rumoured that he was in the know of things making him partly responsible for the scam spiralling out of proportion. With the Opposition seeking his resignation, the efforts of Janata party chief Subramaniam Swamy to oust Chidambaram is worth noting.
The controversial note that was sent by the Finance Ministry to the Prime Minister's office suggest that the 2G scam could have been averted if Chidambaram had insisted on spectrum allocation through auction.
