IIM girl suicide: Boyfriend booked over 'Independence Day'

Bangalore, Sept 23: Bangalore police booked a case of abatement to suicide against Abhishek Dhan, the boyfriend of Malini Murmu who committed suicide over being dumped by Abhishek.

ACP (law and order) Suneel Kumar on Friday, Sept 23 said, "We have booked a case of abetment to suicide against Abhishek Dhan, who is allegedly linked to Malini (the victim)."

Malini and Abhishek reportedly had a fight following which Abhishek updated his Facebook status with derogatory words for Malini.

"Feeling super cool today. Dumped my new ex-girlfriend. Happy independence day," wrote Abhishek on his Facebook profile which he later deleted after facing the wrath over Malini's death.

Depressed by the status, Malini committed suicide leaving behind a note that said she took the step after her boyfriend left her and this was the best way to take revenge on him.

"He ditched me. This is the best I can do to take revenge," read the note left by Malini.
