Jayalalithaa, Tamil Nadu CM
Chennai, Sept 22: Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Jayalalithaa demanded that P Chidambaram, Home Minister resign or Prime Minister drop him from the cabinet over his involvement in the 2G spectrum scam.

"It is quite clear that Mr Chidambaram is deeply involved in the 2G spectrum scam, which according to the CAG's report has caused a loss of over Rs 1.76 lakh crore to the Indian exchequer," said Jayalalithaa.

"The CBI should proceed against Chidambaram, as they did against A Raja...," she said.

Jayalalithaa, however, refused to comment on the fact if this would help former telecom minister A Raja and DMK MP Kanimozhi in any way.

"I would not like to comment on that. I will stop with whatever I have said," she said.

Chidambaram's name surfaced in the 2G scam after a secret note, which was exchanged between the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pranab Mukherjee, came out which mentioned Pranab talking about the pricing of 2G spectrum broadly revealing that Chidambaram could have insisted for an auction of the 2G licenses when A Raja was the Telecom Minister.
