Forbes richest Americans:Buffet left behind, Bill Gates tops

Los Angeles, Sept 22: The Microsoft king, Bill Gates grabbed the first position in the list of richest Americans presented by Forbes for the year 2011. Gates with a net worth calculated at $ 59 billion topped the list.

However, investor Warren Buffett managed to bag the second position with assets worth of $ 39 billion. Forbes claimed that while the Microsoft co-founder's wealth increased by $ 5 billion from 2010, the Berkshire Hathaway Inc chief executive's wealth shrank by $ 6 billion.

Oracle CEO, Larry Ellison got the third position while three members of the Walton family bagged the positions in the top ten list.

Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, with a net worth of $17.5 billion broke into the 14th position in the list of 400 richest Americans.
