SC lawyer Raju Ramachandran named Kasab's defence counsel

New Delhi, Sept 21: In what can be seen as a prolonging of his death sentence judgement, 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Kasab has received a fresh new lease of life when senior Supreme Court lawyer Raju Ramachandran has been chosen to defend Kasab in the Supreme Court. Ramachandran will now be Kasab's defence counsel and will represent him to challenge the death sentence awarded to him.

Kasab has filed a petition in the apex court challenging the death penalty. The trail court had upheld Kasab's death sentence on five counts on May 2010. The Bombay High Court had also upheld the sentence.

The Lashker-e-Taiba (LeT) terrorist Kasab is the lone surviving gunman to be captured live in the deadly Mumbai terror attacks.
