Karnataka Lokayukta Shivraj Patil's resignation accepted

Shivarj Patil had earlier on Sept 19 submitted his resignation after he was indicted of illegal possession of property in Bangalore. He had even offered to return back the land.
A report in Bangalore Mirror accused the Lokayukta of possessing two plots in Bangalore by breaching rules.
According to reports, he acquired both the properties; one in his name, while the other in his wife's name.
It was alleged that he had acquired the land flouting the by-laws that bars two people from the same family of buying land separately. The VHBCS site is in the name of Patil's wife. He had even built a house in one of the plots years back.
Shivarj Patil's resignation comes as a setback to the state.
