Earthquake: Emergency Helpline numbers for Gangtok, WB

New Delhi, Sept 19: With the devastation caused by the deadly earthquake in Sikkim and parts of North and Eastern India rising, search and rescue efforts are on in full force. The death toll till now is 18 with authorities fearing that the numbers could go higher. Many are believed to be missing in the worst natural calamity to strike the region in recent times.

With incessant rains and power supply disruptions, the relief operations are facing a setback. Helpline numbers have been set up to those trapped in the region. The fact that the region is suffering from the effects of the landslides as a result of the weather is also hampering smooth rescue operations.
