Jai Ho Modi: Cops resort to lathicharge at fast venue

Ahmedabad, Sep 18: Ahmedabad police had to face a tough time on Narendra Modi's 2nd day of fast on Sep 18 since the overpouring crowd went out of control. The police finally has to resort lathicharge in order to control the crowd, who were trying to gain entry inside the Gujarat University Convention Centre, the venue where Modi is observing fast since Saturday, Sep 17.

According to police, a huge crowd of over 2000 people had gathered at the main entrance gate causing chaos and making it difficult for the police to handle the situation.

The entry for common public to the venue is allowed only through one small gate and a huge number of people stormed it to get inside the centre, they added. In order to siaperse the maddening crowd, the police opened baton charge on them.

As it's a Sunday, weekend, thousands of people started pouring in at the venue to hail their loved CM and to have a glimpse of him and other high ranking politicians.

According to reports, a few people sustained injuries in the incident. The situation is said to be under control now.
