SBI branch damaged in fire

Amritsar, Sep 17: A major fire broke out in the State Bank of India situated on the first floor of a building hereon Friday, officials said.

No causality was reported as none was present inside the branch at the time of the incident early in the morning, they said.

Bank officials said the fire could have been due to a short circuit. The fire was brought under control by fire brigade personnel who took an hour to douse the flames which damaged four big air conditioning units, 50 computers, dozens of printers and paper files.

Official said there was no loss of cash since the strong room was in the ground floor.
