Punjab CM to attend Modi's fast

Chandigarh, Sep 16: Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal will attend the opening ceremony of his Gujarat counterpart Narendra Modi's three-day fast, which starts from Saturday in Ahmedabad.

Badal will attend the opening ceremony of the fast being undertaken by Modi "for peace, unity and harmony" in the state, official sources told PTI here today.

The Punjab CM will visit Ahmedabad tomorrow and return later in the evening after attending the ceremony, they said.

Senior BJP leaders L K Advani and Arun Jaitley are among the top party leaders who are scheduled to attend the fast.

Modi is undertaking the fast days after the Supreme Court verdict asking the trial court to decide on the Gujarat riots case on the basis of the report of the Special Investigation Team (SIT).
