The panel's report that was submitted to the Supreme Court stressed that the said vault be opened for the security and evaluation of the centuries old treasure lying within the vault. In spite of opposition within the Travancore Royal family, who are custodians of the temple since time immemorial, the panel stood by the law of the land to open the vault. The committee in its interim report to the apex court has gone against the demands of the royal family that bars it from opening of the B vault citing divine wrath. The panel also seem to have overlooked the results of the 'devaprashnam' (astrological ritual conducted to ascertain the divine will) that had predicted divine wrath if the vault was opened. The royal family had also cited the views of the astrologers who had claimed that ill-luck will beckon the people in the land if the vault was opened. Though the Supreme Court took serious note of the devaprashnam, the panel has decided to go ahead with the opening of the vault. The SC is expected to make a decision on the same on Friday.
