Fashionista Maureen Wadia in tax net

Mumbai, Sept 15: Maureen Wadia, the head of Gladrags Magazine was detained at the Chhatrapati Shivaji International airport on Wednesday, Sept 14 for duty evasion on goods from Heathrow airport in London. But, the fashion queen was let free after paying Rs 5.30 lakh as duty.

Mrs Wadia came by a Jet Airways flight UA 9822 on Wednesday morning. She was carrying fashion accessories like belts, expensive lingerie and perfumes from Italy and UK, collectively valued at Rs 15 lakh. She walked through the green channel when the Customs officials stopped her and questioned her for three hours.

Maureen Wadia, a former air hostess, is the wife of Bombay Dyeing Chairman, Nusli Wadia. She is also one of the forces behind the Mrs India beauty pageant.
