Southern railway reschedule and cancel trains

Chennai , Sept 14: Southern railway on Wednesday (Today) has canceled and rescheduled its trains after a train collision between Chennai Beach-Vellore electric multiple unit (EMU) and the Arakkonam-Katpadi passenger train in Tamil Nadu's Vellore district on Tuesday night, Sept 13. The accident left 10 dead and over 86 injured.

The cancelled trains were Kovai Express, Duranto Express, both to Coimbatore, and the Brindavan Express to Bangalore. The matching trains were also cancelled. Same way, Tirupathur-Yelagiri Express and Yeracaud Express between Erode-Chennai have been cancelled.

Ahmedabad headed Navajeevan Express will depart Chennai at 5.30 p.m. instead of 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday (Today) and the West Coast Express has been rescheduled at 5 p.m. instead of its usual departure at 11.30 a.m. on Wednesday (Today), as said by M. Bhoopathy, public relations officer of Southern Railway.

Sources said that injured were admitted to government general hospital in Chennai on Tuesday night, Sept 13 and non of them are in critical condition.
